2014 ‘live’ album featuring ex-HAWKWIND member Nik Turner & sporting one of the finest cover images seen for a long time in the Space-Rock genre!
According to their slogan “free improvised music to fly and travel into space“, SPACE INVADERS considered their cooperation with the master of space sax, the mighty thunder rider: Nik Turner (formerly of HAWKWIND), to be the ideal symbiosis. These bonds were forged at the 6. Psychedelic Network Festival. The result has now been released on this unique record called: ‘Playing The Sonic Noise Opera’. But beyond just playing free improvised music, SPACE INVADERS cherished Nik Turner’s lifetime achievement by playing two cover versions of songs by HAWKWIND and INNER CITY UNIT, before they took off towards the orbit with their spacey, bubbling improvisations.
For the design of the cover of this live record (which is fantastic by the way) the band succeeded in getting the ingenious artist Sergey Skachkov from Moscow on board.
