What would life be like without something to look forward to and get excited about … as you get older that doesn’t always happen as often as you’d like, especially if you’re a Vangelis fan, but here we can announce the pending arrival of an album from the great man to get your juices flowing once more…

Released in September 2016, ‘Rosetta’ is the eagerly anticipated new Vangelis album!
In 2014 the European Space Agency made history by landing the first spacecraft, the Philae lander of the Rosetta mission, on the surface of a comet!
For this ambitious space mission the ESA commissioned Vangelis to compose a cinematic soundtrack for Rosetta’s ten-year, four-billion-mile journey.
Initially this comprised of just three sweeping musical pieces: 'Rosetta's Waltz', 'Arrival' and 'Philae's Journey' (all available to listen to on YouTube by following the links provided), but it seems that this has now been quite considerably expanded to contain a full album’s worth of music on this CD (and on a Double Vinyl LP) from the Greek keyboards maestro!

Vangelis' music is often linked to themes of science, history and exploration. He is best known for his Academy Award–winning score for the film: ‘Chariots Of Fire’, also composing incredible scores for the films: ‘Antarctica’, ‘Blade Runner’, ‘1492: Conquest of Paradise’ and ‘Alexander’. In his earlier years he produced music for many TV documentary films, and some of his spacier pieces were used for one such series: Carl Sagan’s: ‘Cosmos’.
Vangelis said: "Mythology, science and space exploration are subjects that have fascinated me since my early childhood. And they were always connected somehow with the music I write."
