Re-issue of 1990 solo album featuring collaborations with his heroes and close friends, including Tom Petty, Richard Tandy & the late George Harrison!
CD re-issue of Jeff Lynne’s ‘Armchair Theatre’ – his first solo LP, and Jeff has overseen the remastering process.
Originally released in 1990, the album is a melting pot of different styles and influences, featuring unexpected collaborations with his heroes and close friends, including Tom Petty, Richard Tandy and George Harrison.
Unavailable for the last decade, ‘Armchair Theatre’ now includes Two Previously Unreleased Bonus Tracks: ‘Borderline’ and ‘Forecast‘ - both recorded in 1989. Interestingly, the album also features a few notable covers: ‘Don’t Let Go’, ‘Stormy Weather’ and ‘September Song’, and these demonstrated his flair for covers two decades before the release of 2012’s acclaimed “covers” album: ‘Long Wave’.
Suitably, the core of the album is Jeff himself, though he also left room for the contributions of a few friends and fellow travellers. George Harrison contributed guitars and vocals on a number of tracks, Tom Petty co-wrote Blown Away - a gorgeously romantic ballad, and long-time ELO band member Richard Tandy also contributed on keyboards and other instruments.
