Originally released in 1983, this is the soundtrack to the film ‘Nankyoku Monogatari’ by Koreyoshi Kurahara, and one of his finest electronic scores!

The story is about two Japanese scientists, Ushioda and Ochi, who develop a bond with their sled dogs while on an expedition in Antarctica. Ushioda and Ochi eventually leave Antarctica, only to return to search for the dogs inadvertently marooned there.
The soundtrack successfully captures the chilly and lonely experience of the cold continent, with the layered synthesized music Vangelis is known and revered for.
