In the wake of Warner/EMI Japan’s series of 2015 SHM re-issues of classic albums (some on CD for the first time), Sony Japan are now re-issuing a batch of similarly packaged and priced albums - and this is one of them!
Eddie Jobson is the keyboards/violin wizard who performed with bands such as: CURVED AIR, JETHRO TULL, ROXY MUSIC, U.K. and he even had a short spell with YES!
A brilliant exponent of the Progressive / Techno-Rock side of the genre, Jobson’s ‘Theme Of Secrets’ was actually lumped under the “New Age” banner when it was released in 1985 on ex TANGERINE DREAM member Peter Baumann’s PRIVATE MUSIC label, a company formed in the USA when the “New Age” genre was really taking off big-time in the States.
Eddie wrote the album and he shared co-production credits with Baumann, and contrary to his previous album: ‘Zinc’, Jobson did not use any other musicians on this record, just the then state-of-the-art Synclavier synthesizer.
The album sold incredibly well, buoyed up by constant rotation of the ‘Memories Of Vienna’ video that appeared on the Channel 4 TV ‘Art Of Landscape’ series of programmes. This also appeared on VH-1 in the United States.
The album was released simultaneously on CD and LP on PRIVATE MUSIC to great acclaim and has gone on in the intervening years to gain a reputation as a fine instrumental album of any genre. Out of print for a very long time, this is a Limited 2015 reissue of the highly limited 2009 Japanese remaster which used the original master tapes as its source material.
‘Theme Of Secrets’ was released on 9th September 2015.
