For those of us not living in the USA, this is a fantastic opportunity to “attend” a concert by our best selling and incredible American Symphonic Prog band!

GLASS HAMMER have been perennial CDS favourite from year 2000 when influences of ELP, YES & FLOYD all emerged from a keyboard driven Symphonic Prog epic that had it all and more – and they have been a top seller ever since.

‘Double Live’ was recorded ‘live’ at ‘Rosfest’ in 2015, and is the first ‘live’ album by GLASS HAMMER since 2003. Featuring epic tracks from the band’s critically acclaimed albums: ‘Perelandra’, ‘Shadowlands’, ‘Inconsolable Secret’, ‘IF’ and ‘Breaking Of The World’, this stunning performance has been captured on Two Compact Discs and One DVD.

As you would expect from such a well-honed unit as GLASS HAMMER are, the playing is tight, structured and energised, with good vocal performances from the giant of a man that is Carl Groves and GH stalwart, the gorgeous Susie Bogdanowicz. As always with GLASS HAMMER’s music, there’s plenty of room for lengthy instrumental breaks, and these are mainly shared between GH co-founder Fred Schendel’s diverse range of keyboard sounds and Kamran Alan Shikoh’s powerful and sweet headless electric guitar work. Always melodic, the pair purposefully drive the music through a series of wondrous Symphonic Prog landscapes and together with a rhythm section made up of band co-founder Steve Babb (bass) and Aaron Ralston (drums) they get some serious driving riffs going as well.

Fred’s keyboard work is simply sensational throughout – he’s one of these keys players from the pure traditional Prog mould in every sense - at times sounding like Emerson when he’s playing these classic Hammond Organ runs that can only come in combination with the famous Leslie speaker system, and Wakeman when using the many Mellotron sounds he has available plus playing melodious Synth solos from his arsenal of other keyboards.
As well as his headless electric guitar Adam also features on electric slide and acoustic guitars, all leaning towards the real melodic side of Steve Howe’s sound in YES.
Carl Groves has replaced Jon Davison (who left to join the current line-up of YES) on vocals, and while he’s not got that real high register vocal of Jon Anderson’s replacement, he is high enough to keep the YES vocal influence alive within GH’s sound.

Overall, a brilliant hour and a half of pure Prog entertainment for fans of the more melodic Symphonic variety that incorporates influences of ELP, YES, PINK FLOYD and many other classic bands, and all with that GLASS HAMMER edge that really comes across well in a ‘live’ environment!

‘Double Live’ was released on 10th October 2015.
