Fantastic highly anticipated self-titled debut album, and a project with all the hallmarks to make it one of the finest new Progressive Rock albums of 2013!

Featuring John Young (keyboards / lead vocals), Nick Beggs (Steven Wilson & Steve Hackett bands – bass / stick / backing vocals) and Frosty Beedle (ex-CUTTING CREW - drums), this trio are a top class Progressive-Rock unit working with engineer Steve Rispin. ‘Lifesigns’ is a tuneful, innovative and hugely impressive debut album that’s certain to appeal to those who appreciate the finer aspects of modern Progressive Rock.
The impressive core line-up is augmented by guest appearances from such respected figures in Progressive Rock music circles as: Steve Hackett (ex-GENESIS), Thijs Van Leer (FOCUS), Jakko Jakszyk (KING CRIMSON) and Robin Boult (John Young Band & Fish), and the material reflects the excellence of the musicians who perform on the album.

Pre-release information can often over-blow the description of a new band’s work just to get people to sit up and take notice. Many seldom live up to the hype that surrounds them, or bear out what the true sound of the band really is, but in the case of this LIFESIGNS album, the opposite is probably the case!
The very early words – and there weren’t many - on this one were … “5 terrific lengthy, innovative and extremely impressive melodic Prog tracks that are brilliantly written and produced, and it comes heavy on the keyboards!” …
Well this time, whoever said that, they took the words right of my mouth, because having played the CD right through, I have to say that I agree 100% with that statement, and if anything would add that they might have even understated the case with this one!
The quality level of the work of this album is way up there in my opinion - The writing, playing, vocals, harmonies, arrangements and production are all absolutely terrific!
John Young wrote the entire album, and I can tell you, this is classy material! Young’s keyboard work is also extremely impressive, with some passages of pure genius giving the music true character, and others genuinely high levels of excitement. It’s great to hear John come out to the fore as part of a fantastic new band project like this one; because his John Young Band material and past solo works have shown just what he is capable of.
On ‘Lifesigns’ he has blossomed into a top quality writer, player and performer - There really is so much more to this man than the studio session and ‘live’ work we know him for with names including: The STRAWBS, ASIA, GREENSLADE, Jon Anderson and Fish, with whom Young co-wrote the ‘Fellini Days’ album.

Nick Beggs also takes another step forward from his work with both the Steve Hackett and Steven Wilson bands – He really is an extraordinarily gifted stick / bass guitarist with an excellent voice too.

Frosty Beedle plays a strong part in the band line-up too, but apart from his time in that excellent pop / rock band CUTTING CREW, I don’t know too much more about him.

These guys are all top-notch musicians, and that really does show on this LIFESIGNS album!
The production is amazing too, with a sound roaring from the speakers that sounds like a cross between ASIA, Steve Hackett and POCUPINE TREE – all names that have some form of connection with the people involved in the making of this album. The strength and power of its melodic forces also bring SPOCK’S BEARD to mind at times, and so all of these facts all point towards one amazing album!
The 5 tracks are long and the arrangements range from symphonic to complex, and as a result there’s a lot of music to take in, but it’s of a style that will grow and grow with every play, so with much to gain from each new airing, ‘Lifesigns’ is an album that’s going to deliver you hours of listening pleasure.

‘Lifesigns’ is a thoroughly recommended release!
