As always at CDS Towers, we are constantly on the lookout for music – in several genres - that we consider being a bit special. That includes listening for new talent in the flooded “Electronic Music” world, where those with the ability to take the listener of an exciting journey that never becomes dull or boring, and offers thrilling new experiences round every corner are the true winners – Johan Tronestam is one such artist!
Not too many EM albums can keep me focused from start to finish, but Johan Tronestam’s releases certainly do!
The first one I heard was 2016’s: ‘Arthur West Above The Clouds’, and after that I couldn’t wait to trace and investigate all of his other previous releases, and none of these has disappointed either!
With Johan Tronestam’s entire catalogue now available from CDS Towers, this is the kind of instrumental EM that has the effect of constantly tempting the listener towards your amplifier’s volume control … to turn it UP and allow you to get deeper into and more involved in the entire listening experience!
Just like the greats of the more melodic side of the EM world – Dyson, Jarre, Schroeder, Schmoelling, Pickford, Shreeve, TD and Vangelis to name just a few, Tronestam’s real secret is this … He keeps it pure and simple and musical …ALL the time! Each and very track is a total joy - the kind of stuff you can listen to for hours on end and never tire of!
About ‘Cosmic Steps’ …
‘Cosmic Steps’ moves in exactly the same area as the previous album from 2020: ‘Next Step’, which was the idea of colonizing planets and moons in the Solar System. ‘Cosmic Steps’ takes us one step further through the concept of interstellar spaceflight.
Travelling to other star systems and probably discovering planets that are beneficial to humans is probably still a long way off. Johann Sebastian Bach who is one of Tronestam’s favourite composers died over 270 years ago. Maybe that is the time it takes until we can travel to other stars with the same ease as we put a rover on Mars? … But one day, our future civilization will wave to its pioneers who embark on an unbelievably long journey through interstellar space - Fantastic achievements and truly Cosmic Steps.
‘Cosmic Steps’ is also a concluding album of previous interpretations of the depths of space and man’s dream of colonization. It was created in studio Team Quasar during spring of 2020 to February 2021. The album contains 8 tracks, which together add up to almost 80 minutes of music.
