The passing of Damo Suzuki has brought forward slightly the 20th Anniversary CD re-issue of MODULAR SESSIONS Special Edition 2 'The Damo Suzuki Sessions'.

Damo Suzuki was the brilliant improvising singer on the CAN albums: 'Soundtracks', 'Tago Mago', 'Ege Bamyasi’ and 'Future Days'. His spontaneous abstract mix of English, German and Japanese was a fifth sound texture above the band's keyboards, guitar, bass & drums made the albums on which he appeared become amongst the most loved examples of the "krautrock" style.

After CAN, Damo performed around the world with one-off groups creating "spontaneous compositions" and extracts from the two such London sessions that are on this CD.

In 2003 a full Prog Rock band formed by Mark Jenkins (keyboards) performed with Damo at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on the London South Bank (the same venue at which Mike Oldfield launched 'Tubular Bells') and at smaller venues including London's Borderline Club.

This is one of the few times when the style and instrumentation were picked specifically to recreate the full CAN experience, the keyboard set-up of Mark Jenkins substituting the huge Elka X705 (as used by Jean-Michel Jarre) for Irmin Schmidt's Farfisa keyboards, a rare Delta Music Research polyphonic analog modular system for his custom Alpha 77 effects unit, and ring modulators or small effects synths to reproduce his legendary abstract sounds.
The result is almost an hour of driving krautrock with some of Damo's best ever improvised vocals.
If you always wanted a fifth CAN album to join Damo's legendary quartet of releases, this could well be it.
