The first in a series of solo albums produced by the gifted British composer and pianist / keyboards player of cult Symphonic Rock band The ENID!

Presenting an album of romantic music for piano and orchestra accessible to all, yet wholly uncompromising in its content. Of the eight compositions, some are very recognisable and heavily rooted in Robert John Godfrey's past, containing themes and motifs you will recognise (if you are an ENID fan) and to which he has often returned.

While ‘Art Of Melody’ is primarily beautiful, emotive piano driven music, joined by the CBSO on the last two tracks, on the other six tracks Robert is accompanied by himself - his own “orchestra” of sorts - which is technically made possible using midi synthesizer techniques. It is extremely effective, giving the full range of ENID-esque orchestral symphonic touches to swell the music in some places and offer sensitive tender touches in others, often quite subtly, but also grandiose and bombastic, with the overall result being music of great emotional depth and beauty.
‘Art Of Melody’ is a genuinely lovely album that will (or should) appeal to those from the world of classical music AND symphonic rock, and showcases Robert John Godfrey at what he is undoubtedly best at – writing and performing romantic symphonic scores. He is the modern day Elgar or Rachmaninoff, and the music world is so much better for having such a gifted composer working in the world of rock today.
If you have never thought of buying a piano album before, now is the time, and ‘Art Of Melody’ is the album.
Rock fans need not be put off by the thought that this might be an album of purely solo piano pieces, because it is so much more that.
I’ve often thought that there are certain albums that should unite music fans from the totally opposing genres of Classical and Rock music simply for the sake of the music they contain, and ‘Art Of Melody’ is one of those albums!

‘Art Of Melody’ has been produced in response to repeated requests from ENID fans and showcases the work of a man once described as one of the greatest composers Great Britain has ever produced.
The late BBC Radio 1 Rock DJ Tommy Vance once said on air: “Robert John Godfrey is to my mind one of the greatest composers this country has ever had”.
Godfrey’s albums with The ENID have nearly always contained a ‘Robert John Godfrey’s Corner’ – a track which is romantic, powerful and orchestral in conception. The tone of the ‘Art of Melody’ album, whilst being far from sentimental, is often bitter sweet, sad and joyful, melodic and occasionally violent.
From the large-scale virtuoso piece: ‘Cogenhoe Gallivant’, to the gentler: ‘Intermezzo’ – the album showcases Godfrey’s talents beautifully.

The 15th of October 2011 saw a collaborative performance between Robert John Godfrey and one of the world’s greatest orchestras – The City Of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) - later resulting in a Number 1 Classical Single download of Godfrey’s ‘Mirror Of Love’ track in February 2012, which also reached number 65 in the 2012 Classic FM Hall of Fame as the 3rd highest new entry. The live performances of ‘Mirror Of Love’ and ‘Art Of Melody’ with the CBSO also appear at the end of this album.

‘Art of Melody’ comes packaged in a classy Digi-Pak and will be promoted by Classic FM, the most popular classical music radio station in the UK. Classic FM is to broadcast interviews with Godfrey, and will be featuring a review of the album in their Classic FM Magazine.
