A UK
musician who started recording cassettes in the early 1980’s
as part of the emerging “UK Synthesizer Music” fraternity,
Mark Shreeve was initially influenced by the likes
of Klaus Schulze, but then, on the ground-breaking ‘Assassin’
album, finding his own style of driving, melodic synth music that
would progress into more synth-rock territories as each album went
by. For many years hence, Mark’s ‘Assassin’ album’s
title track has become an anthem of its time - Electronic Music’s
equivalent of Rock’s ‘Free Bird’ or ‘Stairway
To Heaven’. In the 1990’s he changed direction to form
Red Shift, which brought about a much more seventies influenced Tangerine
Dream improvised sound, which is where his main focus of attention
lies today, across several expansive synthesizer/sequencer –
led albums of lengthy tracks and masses of depth.
