BRIEF LOOK INTO THE CD SERVICES DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL ROCK & POP MUSIC
The General Rock & Pop part of our main home database is absolutely massive! Featuring both UK Domestic releases and Imports, in this department you will find just a small portion of what we can supply from our home database. The logistics of dealing with over 250,000 worldwide available 'General' titles on-line is not currently possible, because this department literally offers a home for everything that can't be included in the 'Specialist' departments - from Pop to Rock to Classical and beyond!
In this department we tend to present a selection of titles that are either regular sellers or titles we particularly enjoy hearing ourselves, plus there's a range of varied titles that represent what our regular customers are into.
To give a feel of what we tend to feature in this section: We have a particular fondness for Singer-Songwriters such as: Jimmy Spheeris, Iain Matthews and Colin Blunstone, to name just a few. We also like the budget Boxed Set collections of 'Original' classic albums in Vinyl LP replica Card Sleeves that a few of the major companies produce. Sony Music's now extensive range of 'Original Album Classics' 5CD & 3CD packs are excellent value for money, as are WEA's similarly packaged 'Original Album Series' 5CD sets, and EMI have since started their own version of the idea as well.
Like most of the other CDS 'Specialist' departments, some of the titles in the General Rock & Pop category have a certain element of "crossover" with other categories in the store, and here there are crossovers with the Blues / Blues-Rock, Canterbury Music, Folk / Folk-Rock, Jazz, Progressive / Symphonic-Rock, Psychedelic / Space-Rock, Rock / Heavy Metal and Oldies categories.
