Airy atmospheric electronic music with generous layers of melody & rhythm and has a filmic quality, although it’s not a soundtrack - it just feels that way!

Music like a soundtrack from a movie. A story told in three chapters: ‘La Brique Bleue’ (‘I Have To Play Games’), ‘La Brique Verte’ (‘...Just An Empty Nest’) and ‘La Brique Noire’ (‘The Aloha Shop At Honolulu’).

A beautiful flowing cosmic centre track is book-ended by two longer varied pieces of equally drifting, yet well constructed, hauntingly melodic works that feature passages of what is, in a way, symphonic minimalist Synth Music, but laced with subtle, intricate themes and interspersed with occasional rhythmic sections, all gelling together quite effortlessly and forming attention grabbing spatial, panoramic and atmospheric soundscapes of real worth.

All this music was composed, performed and produced by Michael Brückner, March / July 2016.

Michael Brückner about his album:
‘Trois Briques’ is one of those albums that seem to manifest themselves rather effortlessly:
One day in March 2016, I had a (more technical than musical) idea and tested that with a string of musical sketches, of which each was a mutation of the previous one (except for the first, obviously).
I quite liked the result (although it tended more to chill-out music than intended), added a few touches of melody, chords and effects, and together with two similar earlier "test tracks" I quickly made a collage of the material and shared that to the public via a music platform called "Mixcloud" - where Kilian Schloemp became aware of it. He immediately emailed me and asked if I could imagine releasing this material on his SynGate label.
While I originally had no further plans to use this music, with that offer on the table, I made up my mind and answered "Why not - but maybe later..."
That initial "mixtape" had a running time of about thirty minutes, so obviously I needed further material for a full album - therefore some weeks later I filed my backup archives for suitable additional music (actually there's still so much of it that I tend to simply forget some of it after a while, especially if it were equipment try-outs and other sketches based on technical or conceptual ideas).
And indeed I soon unearthed another thirty minutes worth of nice tracks with a similar concept, however of a slightly darker mood and a more experimental edge to it.
Again some months later, one weekend I decided the time was there to transform these sketches in something more consistent. I partly remixed the material, added some further elements and parts and recorded one more track that would serve as a bridge between the two longer "suites".
Finally I felt that the result partly seemed like a soundtrack, and added some voice samples (which I had borrowed from some old and obscure 50’s and 60’s TV series) to further enhance the storytelling element of the album.
All this came about in two days for each of the original long tracks and one weekend of putting it together and fine tuning everything - as I've said: quite effortlessly, it rather felt like the music had been given to me than like I had created it.

‘Trois Briques’ is released on 31st October 2016.
