A treat for all sequencer enthusiasts, ‘Keep On Dreaming – A Tribute To TANGERINE DREAM is a compilation of PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED electronic tracks by French and German artists working in “Berlin School” style!

TANGERINE DREAM were pioneers in electronic music. Starting out in the early 1970s with an experimental approach to different sounds, effects and sound collages, they developed their distinctive style in the mid-1970s, placing sequences at the centre of their compositions. The repetitive sound patterns had a hypnotic effect that fascinated many.
The Baumann/Froese/Franke formation of TD combined this stylistic device with mysterious or atmospheric sounds and improvised melodies, creating long works that took the listener on a journey to another world. This Berlin based band thus shaped the style of the so-called “Berlin School”.
In the 1980s, film music played an increasingly important role for TD, not least due to Johannes Schmoelling joining their ranks, and the music became more catchy, rhythmic, melodic and varied in terms of harmonies. This led to the creation of the well-known Schimanski Tatort single release ‘Mädchen auf der Treppe’ (‘Girl OnThe Stairs’) with the collaboration of Schmoelling.
TANGERINE DREAM continues to exist today with various line-ups, but or many musicians and fans alike, the TD of the 70s and 80s is particularly influential and inspiring.

The French PWM Association and the German Spheric Music label have joined forces to pay tribute to TANGERINE DREAM with this 2026 album, demonstrating that the band has had a cross-border impact on the music world and that the scene is still going strong.
‘Keep On Dreaming’, features tracks by French & German musicians who are keeping the spirit of TANGERINE DREAM alive. As you will hear, each musician has found their own way of expressing themselves with synthesizers, sequencers and electronic sound generators.
What unites them all is their fascination with TANGERINE DREAM, and just as TD have done and are still doing, all of the musicians involved create their own dream world: ‘Keep On Dreaming’.

It is a special honour that Johannes Schmoelling, former member of TANGERINE DREAM, has enriched this compilation CD with a special track!
Johannes Schmoelling comments: “Since my participation in Synthfest France in 2017, the encounters I had with French musicians at that time have developed into genuine friendships that continue to this day. A musical collaboration such as this CD is therefore only logical. I am all the more delighted that this project is dedicated to the band TANGERINE DREAM, as I was a member of this band for many years.”

The CD will be released at Synth Fest in Nantes in April 2026.
