Originally released on LP in 1977, this 2003 CD Remaster of BJH’s classic 4th album for Polydor Records features many fan favourites plus 5 Bonus Tracks!
Released in 1977, ‘Gone To Earth’ continued a slightly more mainstream approach to their song writing and started to take the band’s music to a much wider audience, especially in Europe where they were building a huge fan-base and had become a massive ‘live’ act.
The bands use of the Mellotron was part of the reason that some cynics referred to them as being a “poor man’s Moody Blues” and so the band thought it would be a good idea to record a “Nights In White Satin” styled song and call it exactly that… ‘Poor Man’s Moody Blues’!
‘Gone To Earth’ featured a special die-cut outer sleeve where the artwork on the inner sleeve could be seen through a shaped hole on the front of the outer cover – a similar effect to that created on the 1974 PFM album: ‘The World Became The World’ – and that effect has been re-created for this 2014 re-issue.
The musician line-up for ‘Gone To Earth’ was Les Holroyd (vocals / bass / guitar), John Lees (vocals / guitars), Woolly Wolstenholme (keyboards / Mellotron / vocals) and Mel Pritchard (drums / percussion).
‘Gone To Earth’ is also available as a Limited Edition 180gm Vinyl LP – Stock # 1722845
