2018 Expanded Double Disc of the 1974 classic 3rd Prog album by this semi-instrumental, dual keyboards led four-piece band, containing 8 Bonus Tracks!

Formed in 1972 by former COLOSSEUM keyboard player Dave Greenslade, the band also featured former WEB and SAMURAI member Dave Lawson (keyboards / vocals), former COLOSSEUM bass player Tony Reeves and drummer Andrew McCulloch (formerly with KING CRIMSON and FIELDS).

The calibre of the members of GREENSLADE ensured that the group would be innovative, ground breaking and dynamic in their musical approach and would also be notable due to the absence of a guitarist within their ranks.

Having two keyboard players gave this band a very unique sound and among the different keyboards used by Greenslade and Lawson are the Hammond organ, Mellotrons, Clavinet, electric piano and ARP synthesizer.
If you are a fan of the vintage Mellotron keyboard and you are not that familiar with this band’s music, we can thoroughly recommend GREENSLADE to you, because Dave Greenslade’s wide use of the instrument in pretty sensational, utilising the full range of unique sounds it had to offer: brass, strings and choirs, all of which are brilliantly represented alongside all the other analogue keyboards and a thoroughly amazing rhythm section, that includes a bass player that even takes a lead or two to create and exciting, dynamic and driving sound that is occasionally counterbalanced with more sensitive passages!

Originally issued in August 1974, ‘Spyglass Guest’ was the band’s most successful album and featured such classic compositions as: ‘Joie de Vivre’, ‘Spirit Of The Dance’, ‘Melancholic Race’ and the band’s interpretation of the Jack Bruce / Pete Brown composition: ‘Theme For An Imaginary Western’.
The album was also notable for the appearance of guitarist Clem Clempson (formerly a member of COLOSSEUM) on the tracks: ‘Little Red Fry Up’ and ‘Siam See Saw’.

Considered by many to be a band at their finest on stage, this expanded edition of: ‘Spyglass Guest’ includes a Bonus CD of 8 Previously Unreleased Tracks made for the BBC Radio One ‘In Concert’ programme recorded at the Paris Theatre, London 7th November 1974 and a ‘Sounds Of The Seventies’ session, also recorded in November 1974, both offering a glimpse of the excellence of the band in a ‘live’ environment and released for the very first time!

This Expanded Edition has been Newly Remastered from the Original Master Tapes, and if this is as brilliantly done as the recent re-issue of the ‘Greenslade’ debut album on the same label, you can expect a superb audio clean-up job!

The 6-Panel Digi-Pak comes with a 24-Page Fully Illustrated Booklet that contains many Rare Cuttings and includes an essay by Malcolm Dome, plus exclusive interviews with Dave Greenslade and Dave Lawson.

‘Spyglass Guest’ is released on 26th October 2018.
