4th album from this mega-talented Nordic synth player and there can be no doubt whatsoever who his main (no pun intended) influence is - J.M. JARRE!

When ‘Ripples’ emerged in 2012, Synth Music composer Glenn Main had already established himself as a purveyor of high quality, melodic electronic music that sat comfortably in the realms of his main influences!
Although the music of GLENN MAIN bears only a passing resemblance to that of Vangelis, Yanni or TANGERINE DREAM, there can be no doubt that his strongest point of reference is Jean-Michel Jarre!
However, Glenn has carved out a totally unique style of melodic electronic music that has grown and evolved with each new release.

‘Ripples’ is his 4th album release since 2008, and it’s one album that cements Glenn's place in the electronic music scene by virtue of its simple genius and creativity.
Glenn is not just an expert keyboard player, but ‘Ripples’ highlights a growing maturity and a desire to explore new musical territory that has to be applauded.
From the delicate opening of: ‘Echoes Of The Past’ to the evocative closing: ‘Outward Bound’ this album washes gently and serenely over the listener with a warmth and emotional prowess that few artists in the genre can achieve. ‘Ripples’ is an album that oozes emotion, not only through the beautiful themes that Glenn conjures, but also by the clever simplicity with which he creates his musical soundscapes. ‘Ripples’ is a thing of beauty, a delight to be savoured and remembered long after the final chords have drifted off into space.

The CDS Towers take on ‘Ripples’ (or Glenn Main’s music in general) is that it’s extremely well structured and melodic with a vibrancy that is missing is so much “EM” these days. He has also captured that vital simplistic feel present in the likes of Jarre in his core melodies, and he is a master at manipulating and layering these into a form can be totally thrilling and addictive.
If you’re a Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis or Schiller fan, you will find that this is definitely for you – BIG TIME!
But if you are one of the rank and file retro / “Berlin school” brigade, you might find it a bit too structured and tuneful. Me, I enjoy both styles providing there is at least some sense of structure and melody within the retro stuff.
I think the guy is very good, but then I’ve always liked a good tune, as I’m sure most of you all well know by now J
